Massage Therapy Certification

The demand for qualified Massage Therapists has grown tremendously over the past years. Massage Therapists work in private practices, hotels, chiropractors offices, fitness centers, sporting events and natural health clinics.

Duties of a Massage Therapist:

  • Take case history of client
  • Conduct a physical assessment of client
  • Talks to clients and establishes whether massage therapy can help them
  • Decides on form of massage to use
  • Prepares and blends oils for massage
  • Applies an oil blend to skin then kneads and massages soft tissue and muscle
  • Discusses why client has stress or pain
  • May advise on exercise , relaxation and stretching techniques and lifestyle needs
  • All Massage Therapy students are prepared for and sit for the National Certification Examination

Massage therapists have to have good listening and communication skills and they need to be able to assess a client's individual problems as accurately as possible. They need to be friendly, approachable, helpful and positive.

This occupation is continually growing as it becomes increasingly recognized as a therapeutic practice.
